The surfaces your customers actually walk on

Commercial pressure washing is a different job to a domestic patio. The areas are larger, they get walked on all day, and they cannot be out of action while they dry.

Grease creeping out from a kitchen door behaves nothing like algae on a rooftop terrace, and chewing gum trodden into a thoroughfare needs a different approach again. Each one wants its own combination of water temperature, pressure and detergent — and all of them need to be dry, safe and back in use before you open.

That is the part most people get wrong. Turn the pressure up far enough and almost anything comes off, along with the surface underneath it. We would rather use heat and time.

What we pressure wash

If it is outside, walked on and starting to look tired, it is probably on this list.

Restaurant thoroughfares

The routes between kitchen, bar and tables where grease, spillage and foot traffic build into a dark film. Cleaned with hot water so the grease actually lifts rather than smearing.

Outdoor dining areas

Covers, seating areas and the paving underneath. Furniture moved, cleaned and put back — including mesh and sling loungers, which come up better than most people expect.

Commercial terraces

Paving, porcelain, stone and concrete slab terraces on hotels, offices and apartment blocks. Cleaned in sections so part of the terrace stays usable throughout.

Composite & timber decking

Composite is easy to ruin with a jet wash — too close and you leave permanent striping. We clean it at low pressure with a decking-safe detergent and let the chemistry do the work.

Rooftop terraces & amenity decks

Roof gardens, podium decks and residents' terraces. Bird mess, algae and general grime, with water controlled so nothing floods the drainage below.

Entrances, walkways & steps

First impression surfaces, and the ones most likely to become a slip risk once algae takes hold. Cleaned and left with grip restored.

Recent work: a rooftop terrace in Bristol

Composite decking, a rubber-tiled amenity deck and the loungers sitting on it. Gull mess and algae removed, cleaned in sections so residents kept a route across the terrace throughout.

Why pressure alone is the wrong answer

Four things that decide whether a commercial clean lasts or leaves damage.

Heat does what pressure cannot

Grease, food traffic and gum respond to hot water. Cold water at high pressure just moves them around and scars the surface trying.

Composite decking is unforgiving

Hold a lance too close and you leave stripes that never come out. Low pressure, the right detergent and dwell time is the only safe route.

Grip matters more than shine

On a public thoroughfare the point is removing the algae that makes it slippery. We clean for slip resistance first and appearance second.

Water has to go somewhere

On rooftop terraces and podium decks that is the whole job. We plan run-off and containment before anything gets switched on.

Common questions

Can you clean while we are still trading?

Usually not in the same space at the same time, no — but we rarely need to. Most hospitality work happens before opening or after close, and larger terraces get cleaned in sections so you keep part of the area in use throughout.

Will pressure washing damage our composite decking?

It can, easily, and the damage is permanent. Composite scars if the lance is held too close or the pressure is too high. We clean it at low pressure using a decking-safe detergent and let the product do the work instead of the water.

How long before the area can be used again?

Paving and stone are walkable almost immediately and dry within a couple of hours in reasonable weather. Decking takes a little longer. We plan the timing so it is dry before you need it.

Do you clean the furniture as well?

Yes, and it makes a bigger difference than people expect. Tables, chairs, loungers and sling seating get cleaned and put back where they were as part of the job.

Can you do this on a regular schedule?

Most commercial terraces and thoroughfares are best on a cycle — typically twice a year, or quarterly for high-footfall or heavy-grease sites. It costs less per visit than letting it build up and calling us in a panic.

What paperwork do you provide?

Public and employers liability certificates on request, and a site-specific risk assessment and method statement before we start. Dated photographs of the finished work on completion.
